High AI Adoption is Paired with Major Ethical Concerns and a Clear Training Need

There is a clear trend of youth workers actively engaging with AI tools, but this adoption is tempered by high ethical concern and a strong need for formal training.

  • Significant AI Engagement: A large majority of respondents are either currently using AI tools (33 respondents) or are actively considering their use (17 respondents), totaling 50 out of 74 respondents.
  • Extreme Ethical Concern: Despite the high interest, ethical concerns are paramount. On a scale where ‘5’ means “Extremely concerned,” 31 respondents selected ‘5’ when asked about their level of concern regarding the ethical implications and risks of using AI in youth work. This was the single most frequent response.
  • Widespread Training Gap: A significant portion of the workforce acknowledges a need for more support, with 37 respondents stating they need more training on AI literacy and online safety, and an additional 25 selecting “Maybe,” suggesting a strong demand for professional development.
